APP REVIEW

Ambition Box App Review

I was recently offered a new app developer position. I liked the company but do not know how much salary I should ask for.

I guess this is every developer’s struggle. But is there a solution to this problem?

Ambition Box app has the solution. It is an app that aims to make company reviews accessible to employees. So that they can decide on the best companies and accelerate their career path.

I tried using Ambition Box to look at my company and see their salaries as well as their work culture. The app covered almost every position in the company and its salaries. It also had reviews about the work culture and overall experience of employees. The app helped me understand and decide if the company is worth joining.

So it mean that it is a good app?

Well yes, but no. Let me explain, overall the app did what it was designed to do. To make company reviews accessible to employees. But, after using it once I never felt the need to use it again.

Why?

The answer is simple. It is pretty much designed like LinkedIn but every user is anonymous just like the Hood app. However, there is a key component that works in LinkedIn that does not work for Ambition Box. LinkedIn is a social media site that helps employees showcase their profiles and make them accessible to employers. The anonymous aspect of it is unique but it has its cons.

One part of the Ambition box is Interview prep and the other part is company reviews. It seems as if the app is trying to serve too many customers at once without any definitive customer avatar in mind.

If they would serve only one customer avatar that would be much more profitable as compared to others. Let me give you an example, finding salaries and reviews of companies is the most interesting part of the app. Therefore I would expand on that portion of the app. Double down on getting accurate salaries and reviews of companies and monetize with interview prep.

One aspect every app owner should learn is that your app should solve only one problem of your target customer. You can expand to other problems but the app should be built using only one vision in mind.

This is for today I hope enjoyed this newsletter. If you enjoyed it please let me know and if I have written something wrong please forgive me.
