What is a Network?
- A network is a group of people that you can pull a favour from
- Favour can be a job, a meeting, a contact etc
Why is the network so important?
- Network allows you to reach people who have skills or contacts
- It enables you to unlock opportunities that you may not be able to access otherwise
What are the problems you face while networking?
The first one is fear
- We all have a fear of being judged
- But, we need to remember that networking is used to grow your skills not to judge your skills.
Is there a simple method to start networking?
- Yes, Open Linkedln or twitter
- Find People that inspire you or you want to work with or maybe you want to work in the same job position
- Start asking them simple questions like:
How to get my first internship?
How do you learn?
- Then observe yourselves grow
- Some will answer and some won't, but just keep going
- Eventually, you will start building a network of skilled people around you
What are some Networking Tricks?
- Be Helpful
- Meeting mentors
- Random Events
- Escape your comfort zone
- Rewrite your social networks
- Strengthen your weakest Network
- Gather around an unconventional group
- Network in unconventional places
- Time your Networking
- Be Helpful:
- Try to be thoughtfully helpful to the people around you
- Try to have a slot in a week where you try to help people around you.
- Reach out to your network and ask if they need some kind of help.
- It will start to pay dividends over time
- Meeting Mentors:
- A simple way to network with mentors around you is to make the conversation about them, instead of yourself.
What do I mean by that?
Whenever you are interacting with your superior, try to talk about them instead of your achievements.
- Try asking simple questions:
" How do you manage your time?"
" How to learn more effectively?"
These simple questions allow them to think and answer instead of answering boring questions
The idea is to give others value and make them feel important
This is it for today.
I hope this added some value and if I have written something wrong.
Please forgive me
